Matt Navratil, Clinical Supervisor for Immersion Recovery Center and Immersion Residential, has taken on a new role as the program’s Clinical Administrator. Matt ensures clients are completing the Immersion program in a timely manner, and that they are staying on the right track over the course of their stay.

He works directly with clients and with the clinical team to ensure personal treatment goals are consistently being met, and handles any issues that might arise. Having been with Immersion Recovery Center since its inception, Matt has a strong grasp of the ins and outs of the 12 Step-based program, and stands behind the program’s efficacy and value when it comes to transforming the lives of those struggling with addiction.

“I started part-time with the company in 2013 and transitioned to full-time in 2014,” Matt explains. “I started out as a Primary Therapist; I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. When I first started, Guardian Recovery Network was just an IOP [Intensive Outpatient Program]. We had a female track and a male track. I was a Primary Therapist until the residential portion of the clinical program opened in 2018, and I’ve been filling the role of Clinical Supervisor since then.”

Matt’s primary role with the company has shifted since he first started with Immersion in 2013. “When I first started I worked directly under the Clinical Supervisor,” he says. “I had more one-on-one client contact in terms of having a small caseload. Now my role is more of an administrative role; I still work with clients, but in a different context. I make sure that each client has been assigned a Primary Therapist, who they will work with directly over the duration of their stay. I keep close contact with other staff members, facilitate staff training, make sure bed occupancy is on track, and essentially make sure everything is functioning the way it should be.”

Like many other Immersion Recovery Staff members, Matt began his personal journey in the realm of substance use disorder treatment after his own battle with addiction. “Like many of us do, I came to South Florida in 2003 to get sober,” he shares. “I couldn’t get sober anywhere else. I did the whole thing; the halfway house, the ‘recovery job,’ so to speak.”

Matt recalls the initial growing pains of a fledgling company, detailing how immensely Immersion has grown over the course of 8 short years. “When I first started we were a two-track IOP stuffed inside of a single office building,” he says. “Now we offer a full continuum of care, from medical detox to inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, and several outpatient treatment options. I think the quality of the services we provide has allowed for such rapid growth. Immersion staff members truly care about the work they’re doing. We won’t kick someone out of our program simply because their insurance runs out. We all want to see our clients recover, whatever that takes.”
