Flexible Outpatient Treatment Through Guardian Recovery's Immersion Program

Keep Building Your Recovery While You Live Your Life

You’ve made real progress—or you’re ready to start—and you want support that keeps pace with your life. We provide evidence-based addiction treatment on a schedule that lets you stay fully engaged at work, at school, and at home.

Our South Florida outpatient program for substance use disorder offers individual therapy, group support, and relapse prevention through scheduled sessions, typically 1–3 times per week. This level of care keeps you connected to your treatment team while giving you the independence to lead your own recovery day to day.

We offer in-person outpatient care at our Delray Beach facility, with flexible scheduling designed around your responsibilities.

This is where recovery becomes routine. You’re not just getting through treatment—you’re building a sober life that holds up on its own, with professionals in your corner.

What Is Outpatient Treatment (OP) for Drug & Alcohol Addiction?

An Outpatient Program (OP) is the most flexible level of structured addiction treatment. It provides consistent clinical support for substance use disorders through scheduled sessions each week, while you live at home and manage your normal routine.

At Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program in South Florida, OP lets you attend individual and group sessions at set times—often before or after work—while continuing to live at home or in a sober living environment. This level of care is ideal for people who are stable in recovery, have a supportive home life, and want ongoing guidance as they build independence.

Outpatient Treatment at Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program Includes:

Think of OP as professional support for everyday recovery.

At Immersion Outpatient, you’re no longer just learning recovery skills—you’re living them. Your treatment team checks in regularly, helps you work through challenges as they come up, and adjusts your care as your needs change across Guardian Recovery’s full continuum of care.

Who Is Outpatient Treatment Right For?

Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program in South Florida is designed for people who need ongoing addiction treatment but are ready for a high level of independence. It supports people stepping down from more intensive care as well as those starting treatment for the first time.

Outpatient Treatment May Be Right for You If:

You’re Stepping Down from IOP or a Higher Level of Care

  • You’ve completed IOP, PHP, or residential treatment and are ready for more independence
  • You’ve built a solid foundation of coping skills and want to keep strengthening them
  • You’re stable in recovery but still benefit from regular clinical check-ins
  • You want to stay connected to your treatment team as you return to a full schedule

You’re Starting Treatment at the Outpatient Level

  • Your substance use is affecting your life, but you don’t need daily or 24/7 care
  • Medical detox is not currently necessary
  • You have a stable, supportive living environment
  • You’re motivated to change and can stay substance-free between sessions
  • You want to address concerns early, before they become harder to manage

You Want Ongoing Support to Protect Your Progress

  • You’ve been sober for a while and want guidance through new stressors or life changes
  • You’ve noticed early warning signs and want support before a relapse happens
  • You want a consistent place to work through challenges with a professional
  • You benefit from peer connection but don’t need multiple groups each week

You Need Treatment That Fits a Full Schedule

  • You work full-time, attend school, or care for family and can’t commit to IOP hours
  • You need sessions scheduled before or after work
  • You have reliable transportation to our Delray Beach facility
  • You’re ready to take ownership of your recovery day to day

You Have Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

  • You’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges alongside substance use
  • Your symptoms are stable enough to manage with weekly support
  • You benefit from ongoing dual diagnosis treatment and medication management
  • You want to keep building healthy ways to cope without substances

If you’re unsure whether outpatient treatment is the right fit, our admissions team will help you find the most appropriate level of care within Guardian Recovery’s full continuum—starting where you need support most.

Treatment Components in Immersion Outpatient OP

Individual Therapy: The Foundation of Outpatient Care

In IOP, group therapy carries most of the work. At the outpatient level, individual therapy becomes the anchor of treatment. At Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program in South Florida, your one-on-one sessions keep your care personal, focused, and responsive to what’s happening in your life right now.

Frequency: Typically 1 session per week, 45–60 minutes

Individual therapy helps you:

  • Work through current stressors before they become relapse risks
  • Address personal issues that may be too sensitive for a group setting
  • Explore relationships, family dynamics, or trauma at your own pace
  • Strengthen and update your personal relapse prevention plan
  • Track your progress and adjust your plan as your life changes
  • Build confidence in managing recovery independently

Your therapist is your primary clinical advocate—someone who knows your full story and helps you stay steady through each stage of recovery.

Group Therapy Options in Outpatient Care

Many clients add one group session per week for peer support and accountability. Groups are smaller in commitment than in IOP but just as meaningful.

Relapse Prevention Groups Recognize early warning signs, plan for high-risk situations, and strengthen the habits that protect long-term sobriety.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Groups Keep practicing how to catch and change the thought patterns that lead to substance use, applied to the real situations you face each week.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Groups Reinforce emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills so stress doesn’t push you back toward old patterns.

Process Groups Talk openly with peers who understand recovery, share what’s working, and get honest feedback in a supportive setting.

Life Skills & Wellness Groups Focus on the routines that support lasting recovery—stress management, sleep, nutrition, boundaries, and healthy relationships.

Why Peer Support Still Matters

Outpatient group therapy helps you:

  • Stay connected to people who understand recovery firsthand
  • Keep a regular point of accountability in your week
  • Learn from others who are navigating similar life changes
  • Offer support to people earlier in their recovery
  • Build relationships that last beyond treatment

Psychiatric Services & Medication Management

Many people in outpatient care continue to manage co-occurring mental health conditions. Immersion Outpatient provides ongoing psychiatric support so your mental health and recovery stay coordinated.

Psychiatric services include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation for new clients or a review for those stepping down
  • Ongoing treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and related conditions
  • Medication management, including adjusting or tapering prescriptions when appropriate
  • Follow-up appointments to monitor effectiveness and side effects
  • Coordination between your psychiatric provider and your therapist

Frequency: Monthly or as-needed appointments

Dual Diagnosis Treatment in Outpatient Care

Mental health and substance use often affect each other long after early recovery. That’s why Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program in South Florida continues integrated dual diagnosis treatment at the outpatient level.

We Continue to Treat:

  • Depression and substance use disorder
  • Anxiety disorders and addiction
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse
  • Bipolar disorder and addiction
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and substance use
  • Eating disorders with co-occurring substance use
  • Personality disorders alongside addiction

What Integrated Care Looks Like in OP

  • Both conditions are addressed in the same treatment plan, by the same team
  • Your therapist watches for mental health changes that could affect sobriety
  • Medication is managed alongside your therapy, not in isolation
  • Coping skills support both emotional stability and recovery
  • If symptoms increase, your team can adjust your care quickly

At Guardian Recovery, you’re treated as a whole person—not a collection of diagnoses. Outpatient care helps you keep both your mental health and your recovery on solid ground.

Case Management & Care Coordination

As you take on more independence, dedicated case management helps make sure the rest of your life supports your recovery.

Case management support includes:

  • Coordinating care among your therapist, psychiatrist, and medical providers
  • Connecting you with community resources for housing, employment, or education
  • Assisting with insurance, benefits, and financial questions
  • Planning your next steps after OP, including alumni support
  • Helping you work through scheduling or transportation barriers
  • Advocating for your needs within the treatment system

Think of your case manager as the person who keeps the practical details handled—so you can keep your focus on recovery.

Why This Integrated Approach Matters

By combining individual therapy, group support, psychiatric care, and case management, Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program delivers evidence-based addiction treatment that protects your progress and supports long-term sobriety.

Common Questions & Concerns About Outpatient Rehab

Clear, compassionate answers to your most common questions—so you know what to expect, how outpatient treatment works, and how our team supports your safety and comfort at every step.

Can I work full-time while in outpatient treatment?

Yes. Outpatient care is designed for people with full-time jobs, school, or family responsibilities. At Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program, sessions typically take place 1–3 times per week, and your team will help you find times that fit your schedule.

The main difference is time and structure. IOP typically involves 9–15 hours per week of mostly group-based treatment. Outpatient care involves fewer than 9 hours per week and centers on individual therapy, with group sessions added when helpful.

Outpatient care can be very effective for people who are medically stable, have a supportive home environment, and can stay substance-free between sessions. For others, IOP, PHP, or residential treatment may be recommended first. Guardian Recovery helps you start at the right level of care—not the most intensive one by default.

Relapse is treated as a clinical signal—not a failure. Your team will reassess your needs and may adjust your session frequency or recommend stepping up to IOP or another level of care. Because Guardian Recovery offers a full continuum of care, that change can happen quickly.

No. Many people step down to outpatient care after IOP, but others start directly at the outpatient level when their clinical assessment shows it’s the right fit.

If you need medical detox, it must be completed before starting outpatient care. If detox isn’t clinically necessary, you may be able to begin outpatient treatment directly after your assessment.

Guardian Recovery’s Immersion Outpatient Program treats a wide range of substance use disorders, including alcohol, opioids, prescription drugs, stimulants, and polysubstance use.

Most major insurance plans cover outpatient treatment for substance use. Our admissions team can verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs before you begin.

Your treatment is confidential and protected by HIPAA. Guardian Recovery does not contact employers without your written consent. Many outpatient clients schedule sessions outside work hours, so no time off is needed.
